This site is in Japanese and English.
This site contains an Industrial Property Digital Library where you can search published Japanese patents. Why it has been called "Industrial Property" instead of "intellectual property", I really have no idea. The keyword search is particularly useful. The system can only display up to 1000 results at a time (which is really quite a lot) so you may have to narrow your search down a little if you want to see a list of your results.

Omega-T: Omega-T is open-source Computer Assisted Translation software. Unlike similar programs such as Trados, SDLX, or Deja-Vu etc., this software can be downloaded for free from the Omega-T site and you can modify the code yourself if you are feeling so inclined. A reasonable amount of computer savvy is required to get it running, however, and some participation in the user group will probably also prove necessary. This product is currently being reviewed by this site. A first glance has suggested that, while not as slick as its proprietary competitors, it certainly may provide a cheap alternative for people who do not wish to shell out cash on a fee-charging competitor. However, as open-source software, it does have a huge advantage in that rapid improvement is extremely likely and that voluntarily provided help may often be at hand for those who persist with it. More will be posted after I have tried to perform a translation with it. Wish me luck! |
